Lhasa-based Tibet Airlines will start a direct flight service between Lhasa and Hong Kong on Nov 1, the first between the two cities, according to Tibet Business Daily.
The opening of the new route is expected to bring more tourists from Hong Kong to the plateau region. Travelers from Hong Kong to Tibet will no longer need to make transitions in Chengdu or Beijing, making it much easier and more convenient for tourism.
According to Tibet Airlines, it will operate six weekly flights on the routes on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, carried out by Airbus TV9911 and TV9912. It takes about 3 hours and 50 minutes to cover the 2,800 kilometer-long distance between the two cities.
