China's Zhang knocked out of Rogers Cup WTA tournament

WASHINGTON - China's Zhang Shuai lost to Russian player Ekaterina Alexandrova in straight sets in the second round of the Rogers Cup WTA tournament on Wednesday.
Zhang, ranked 35th in the world, had a below-bar performance and battled for just one hour or so before losing to her opponent 6-4, 6-3. Zhang did not even have a breaking point chance in the match while Alexandrova broke Zhang three times throughout the match.
The Rogers Cup consists of ATP and WTA tournaments, with the men's tournament being underway in Montreal and women's event in Toronto.
