Wizards set to offer All-Star guard Beal 3-year extension contract: reports

WASHINGTON - The Washington Wizards will offer All-Star guard Bradley Beal a three-year, 111 million US dollars contract extension, local media reported on Monday.
Beal's agent Mark Bartelstein said he and Beal have remained in contact with the team's newly appointed general manager Tommy Sheppard, but there is no rush to come to an agreement on the upcoming offer.
"We'll talk to the Wizards. We've been talking to the Wizards. Those are things we have to figure out in terms of what's the right thing for everyone," Bartelstein said. "We're not locked in on specific dates in terms of all that. There's nothing that needs to be decided at this moment. There's a lot for Bradley to consider. The entire Wizards organization have been nothing but spectacular to us."
Beal had a career-best season in 2018-19 and still has two more years in his current contract. The extension contract would start from the 2021-2022 season.
Beal averaged a career-best 25.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5 assists last season. In four trips to the playoffs in his seven-year NBA career, Beal has averaged 22.7 points in 40 appearances.
Beal has also decided to withdraw from the US squad that will be playing in the FIBA World Cup in September as the 26-year-old star is anticipating the birth of his second child in August, local media reported.
"It was a very difficult decision for him because he loves Team USA, loves being a part of it. He's been a part of Team USA since high school," said Bartelstein. "But I think being a father and being there for his family is really, really important."
