Zhou also introduced Tonglu's geographical advantages for the development of the pilot zone. The county sits just 60 kilometers away from Hangzhou and lies in the center of the popular national tourism route stretching from the West Lake to Qiandao Lake to Huangshan Mountain. After the opening of the Hangzhou-Huangshan High-speed Railway, visitors can reach Tonglu within 30 minutes from Hangzhou, one hour from major cities in the Yangtze River Delta, and six hours from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
“In the following five years, Tonglu will strive to make the output value of the life sciences and healthcare industry in the pilot area exceed 5 billion yuan, and the investment in fixed assets surpass 10 billion yuan, and it will also endeavor to attract more than 3 million tourist trips, providing the Tonglu model for innovative development of the national life sciences and healthcare industry,” Zhou added.
