At the invitation of US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Vice-Premier Liu He will visit the US on May 9-10 for the 11th round of trade talks, said the Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday.

Liu is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chief of the Chinese side of the China-US comprehensive economic dialogue.

In response to China-US consultations on economic and trade issues, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said at a regular news conference on Tuesday that China always believes that mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit are the premise and basis for reaching an agreement, and adding tariffs cannot solve any problem.
