Exhibition marks Wu Guanzhong's 100th birthday

An exhibition celebrating late Chinese painter Wu Guanzhong's (1919-2010) 100th birthday opened Thursday at the National Art Museum of China.

Exhibition Commemorating the 100th Birthday of Wu Guanzhong features 58 of Wu's artworks, focusing on his oil and traditional Chinese paintings and presenting his unique artistry.

Wu, born in 1919, was a native of Yixing, East China's Jiangsu province. In 1947 he went to France to study Western painting before returning to China in 1950.

Wu brought together in his work Chinese and Western art and was considered a pioneer who brought international recognition to Chinese art.
