Event aims to spread awareness about autism

A project that aims to help autistic adults to gain basic life skills and integrate into society was also launched on that occasion.
The auction has raised a total of 43,000 yuan ($6,408), a part of which will go directly to these painters. And the rest will be used by the China Social Welfare Foundation for rehabilitation of autistic people.
Jia Meixiang, a doctor from Peking University Sixth Hospital and also a medical specialist for autism, says that since the first child was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder in China in the late 1980s, social programs and individuals have made continuous efforts to help autism sufferers through over 2,000 autism rehabilitation institutions across the country.
Elvis Tan, the director of BISS, says such activities are in tune with BISS’s vision and values. And he hopes that the international school can help students cultivate a strong sense of responsibility and support social diversity and social integration.
