Chinese companies interested in energy projects in Jordan: Chinese ambassador

AMMAN - Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Pan Weifang said Chinese companies are interested in investing energy and minerals projects in Jordan.

The ambassador made the remarks during a meeting with Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Hala Zawati on Thursday in the presence of trainees who have attended a workshop in China on renewable energy.

"This training program is specifically designed for Jordan in this field and it is the start of exchange of expertise between the two sides," said the ambassador.

China, he said, was keen on increasing cooperation with Jordan and the Gulf states in the field of renewable energy and the training courses held by China are part of China's support to Jordan to provide the kingdom with technical expertise in this sector.

Zawati stressed on the key ties between the two sides in various arenas.

She added that a delegation of the ministry's staff visited China recently where they received a training course in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The minister voiced appreciation for China's support to Jordan and for implementing energy projects in the kingdom.

The minister said that trainees spoke highly of the training course and how it has greatly improved their expertise in the field.
