Xi'an keen on boosting Hard & Core Technology investment

A conference held during the 21st China Beijing International High-Tech Expo, which opened on May 17, promoted the development and investment opportunities of high-tech areas in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province.
The conference, one of the key events for this year's expo, was organized by Xi'an city government and attended by the city's authorities, heads of research institutes located in Xi'an, and more than 100 representatives from the technology sector.
At the conference, the city extended invitations to global experts in Hard & Core technology to join its think tank, and released a package of ten measures to further boost industries related to Hard & Core technology, which encompasses advanced sciences and technologies, such as artificial intelligence, aerospace, biotech, photoelectric chips, new materials, new energy and intelligent manufacturing.
The measures include giving up to 5 million yuan ($785,000) as a financial reward to newly-founded incubators for army-civilian integration industries, up to 8 million yuan to support startups established by high-level talent, and no less than 20 million yuan to support professional shared work spaces for startups.
A white paper on investment and development of China's Hard & Core technology sector was released during the conference. It elaborated on favorable policies and the environment for development of relevant industries in Xi'an.
The white paper was jointly compiled by Zero2IPO Research, a private venture capital firm based in Beijing, the National Academy of Innovation Strategy, and MIT Technology Review, with support from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Xi'an city government.
It pointed out the development opportunities in eight different areas of Hard & Core technologies in the future and analyzed Xi'an's unique position in the ongoing industrial upgrade and economic transformation.
According to the city's deputy mayor Fang Guanghua, Hard & Core technology has become a trump card for Xi'an in development and attracting investment, and the city is constantly enhancing its environment with high standards in business, innovation and talent, as well as all-round services.
It was also announced that the city will host the 2018 Global Hard & Core Technology Innovation Conference in early November.
