A new documentary series exploring the diverse lifestyles of people who have made Xinjiang their home reveals their deep affinity for the region. Xu Fan reports.

A documentary series recounting the lives and times of more than 20 people living and working in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region made its debut at an event in Beijing on Sunday.

The nine-episode series, I'm Going to Xinjiang, is due to air in mid-May on state broadcaster China Central Television and several videostreaming sites, including Tencent Video and Bilibili.

Producers say the television version, with a running time of 25 minutes per episode, will feature 24 protagonists due to time limitations, while the extended internet version will feature 27 people. An accompanying book of the same name was also launched at the Beijing event.
