Book launch and talk

Exploring and grasping the broad meaning of life in limited physical space and time boundaries is perhaps only possible through painting. In his most recent book A Historical Dialogue with Art, master artist Hsiao Chin shares his experience and ideas on developing his distinctive form of abstract art.
Hsiao is celebrated as the pioneer of modern abstract art and is widely recognized in both Eastern and Western art scenes for his major contribution to development of Chinese modern abstract art.
Through his in-depth study of traditional Chinese philosophies such as Zen and Taoism and motivated by art in Spain and Italy, he was able to freely transform the complex ideas into his own abstract visual language.
His artworks have been exhibited and collected by important institutes world-wide including New York's MoMA and Metropolitan Museum, the National Art Museum of China, Museum of Modern Art in Barcelona.
Co-presented by the Hong Kong Arts Centre and Hsiao Chin Art Foundation, Hsiao will join the Hong Kong audience next week in a dialog with M+ Museum Curator Lesley Ma to share his art journey and reveal the stories behind his new book.
