From top: Vivienne Tam presented her Spring 2015 collection on Sept 7 in the Theatre at Lincoln Center. Inspired by the decorative treasures of the Ming and Qing dynasties housed in the Forbidden Palace, the collection draws upon rich textures of lacquer, pearl inlays and cloisonne amped-up in technicolors such as cobalt blues, intense greens and super saturated corals, expressed through prints, laser cut appliques and embroideries on power mesh and textured cotton. Anna Sui blended a smorgasbord of retro '70s prints: art deco flowers, cartoony kids' wallpaper and shooting stars. It was as if Sui had raided every top-of-the-line vintage clothing store in London and pulled together the finest pieces the hippy era had to offer to create a modern day "best of" homage to a time of serious sartorial self-expression.
