Taiwanese singer Jay Chou has invited NBA rocket center Yao Ming to be in the new movie Dunk on, but an anonymous person working for Yao says the deal isn't yet certain, according to Hong Kong media reports carried on sina.com Tuesday.

Though Yao's appearance in last year's The Year of Yao was not as warmly received as expected, Dunk director Zhu Yanping still sees potential in the basketball star. Zhu said Dunk is now consulting with big stars such as Yao and Hong Kong actor Eric Tsang.

"The script would be adjusted according to Yao's demands as long as he agrees to join, "Zhu said.

Zhu said Yao would play himself, Chou's character's idol in the film. But Yao is expected to be unavailable for seven to ten days because of his latest toe injury to ensure a better performance in the upcoming NBA season.

"He could be too busy to pay attention to it," the anonymous staff member commented.

But Dunk will invite Yao's father, Yao Zhiyuan, a former Shanghai men's team basketball player to be the movie's basketball instructor, despite Yao's likely absence.
