LONDON - Eurostar rail service resumed  Saturday morning after a fire alarm in the channel tunnel briefly  halted traffic between Britain and France.

Rail operations were suspended from 7:15 am to 9:20 am local time because of smoke coming from a train shuttle, a Eurostar  spokewoman said.

The spokeswoman said that all passengers were evacuated into the service tunnel within about 10 minutes. An alarm malfunction on a freight train was the probable cause  of the disruption, she said.More than 400 passengers in a Eurostar train were evacuated two months ago because of a fire alarm.  Enditem
