Thai gov't to end prolonged anti-gov't rally

BANGKOK - The Thai government is currently in the process to end the prolonged anti-government rally that violates the general public's rights, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of security affairs Suthep Thaugsuban said Monday.
The rally in central Bangkok has been causing to difficulties in living of the general public due to their blockages on roads or recent hospital raid, Thai News Agency quoted Suthep Thaugsuban as saying.
Moreover, "the rally site Rathchaprasong Intersection is dangerous since terrorists are among the protesters," Suthep said.
"It will take time for the government to convince the protesters whose rally is constitutional to leave the Rathchaprasong area, Suthep said.
However, after warning, the government will have to use forces to deal with the protesters, who do not stop their illegal demonstration's activities, Suthep noted.
The government announced on Sunday that it plans to send a short message service or SMS to the anti-government protesters to tell them that their gathering is illegal.
It is believed that the SMS or text messaging will change their mind, acting government spokesman Panithan Wattanayakorn said.
The anti-government rally has been held from March 12 and the protesters are now gathering at the Rathchaprasong Intersection -- their main rally site.
They have demanded Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to " immediately" dissolve the lower House of parliament and hold a new general election.
