SYDNEY -- A 6.3-magnitude quake hit off Papua New Guinea on Sunday morning, but there has been no tsunami warning or casualties.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake struck at 9.15 a.m. local time, with its epicentre located 28 kilometers east of the town of Lae, and at a depth of 66 kilometres.

There was no immediate alert from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center based in Hawaii.
