BERLIN - Three German soldiers were killed and five more seriously injured on Friday in the northern Afghan region of Kunduz, German military operations command in Potsdam, Germany, confirmed.
German media reports quoted Afghan officials as saying earlier that the German patrols was attacked by Taliban fighters at first in the district of Char Darah southwest of Kunduz city. Both sides exchanged fires in hours of fierce battle that was still raging on Friday afternoon.
Char Darah is considered the most dangerous of the six districts in the northern Afghan province of Kunduz. Last year there was a large German-Afghan offensive in Char Darah to push back Taliban.
