40 jailbirds break from north Mexican prison

MEXICO CITY: At least 40 prisoners escaped on Thursday from the prison of Matamoros in the state of Tamaulipas, north of Mexico, local authorities said.

The escape occurred on Thursday morning, but there are no details about how the prisoners managed to escape from the prison.

The prisoners have been sentenced for common crimes.

Meanwhile, Police agents of the different corporations and troops of the Mexican Army are guarding the prison, while other agents hurried to the zone in order to recapture those prisoners.
