Number of HIV/AIDS cases in Jordan hits 726

AMMAN - Jordan's Health Ministry announced Sunday that 12 HIV/AIDS cases were registered during the first two months of 2010, bringing the country's total number to 726.

The number of overall HIV/AIDS cases registered in the Arab kingdom has been reported since 1986, when the first AIDS case was registered, according the ministry.

Of the total AIDS cases registered since 1986, a total of 214 were Jordanians.

Non-Jordanians tested positive with the disease are deported to their countries for treatment according to international agreements to which Jordan is a signatory.
