School suspends 20 over Facebook bully groups in Australia

CANBERRA: Students from two Brisbane schools have been suspended over highly offensive Facebook pages last week, with at least one of the students being investigated.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Friday 20 Springwood State High School students have been disciplined over a Facebook page that bullied staff at the school.

An Education Queensland spokesman said the Springwood school would not reveal how many staff members had been harassed on the internet site but police were not investigating the material.

"I don't believe the pages were illegal. I think it was just one of those hate-based pages," the spokesman said on Friday morning.
