Official sources said the air strike was carried out when the militants were holding an important meeting in Shandara village of Baizai Tehsil, the private TV Express reported

A key militant commander was killed in the attack but his name could not be confirmed.

The remote village of Shandara is still controlled by the militants. Officials said that the rest of Mohmand has been cleared of militants and only Baizai and some areas are occupied by militants.

Sporadic incidents of violence have been reported in these months as security forces conducted search and clearance operations against Taliban militants in the tribal belt.
