SEOUL: South Korea's jobless rate climbed for the second consecutive month in December as employment market remained tight despite of economic recovery, a government report showed Wednesday.
The figure has been on an upward trend after hitting an 11 month low of 3.2 percent in October, the agency said.
The number of employed people decreased by 16,000 to 23.23 million last month from a year earlier, with the degree of drop exceeding a 1,000 decline recorded in November, the report showed.
The data came as the government announced that job creation will be prioritized in the government's list as sluggish job market is worried to dent the pace of economic growth.
