Afghan police shot dead would-be suicide bomber

KABUL: Police in Afghanistan's southern Uruzgan province shot dead a would-be suicide bomber after identifying him, a provincial police officer said Tuesday.

"A suicide bomber attempted to get inside police department in Deh Rawad district Monday night, but fortunately police identified him and shot him dead," Gulab Khan, director of counter-terrorism department in Uruzgan province, told Xinhua.

He added that the suicide bomber opened fire when police did not allow him to get closer, killing one police constable and injuring three others, including two policemen and a passerby civilian.
