SEOUL: A South Korean man convicted of incendiary fire to kill his parents has received a life sentence, local media said on Tuesday.
The arsonist, identified only by his last name Kang, set his house on fire last October, as he was discontented with his parents who he felt were favoring his step-brother, according to Yonhap news agency.
"Insurance payment was to follow his parents' death, and Kang tried to use the money for his legal fees, and he showed no remorse for his actions. Considering these circumstances, he must be isolated from society,"a court ruling said.
His parents were burned to death and the step-brother was seriously injured as a result of the crime, Yonhap reported.
