BUENOS AIRES: Some 112 people have been injured during this year's Christmas celebrations, 40 more than last year, said the health authorities of Buenos Aires on Friday.
Most of the injured suffered burns from fireworks in street activities.
A dozen of them suffered serious eye injuries and needed surgery, while a 9-year-old boy was given emergency treatment after a firework explosion ripped his left leg.
Meanwhile, national security officials at alcohol checkpoints seized 20 vehicles, whose drivers were suspected of drunk driving.
