UN approves $5.16 billion budget for 2010-2011

UNITED NATIONS: The General Assembly has adopted a two-year budget of $5.16 billion to cover the United Nations' regular operations in 2010-2011.
The budget is $300 million higher than the revised budget for 2008-2009 of $4.86 billion, which was approved last December.

The resolution adopted by the General Assembly by consensus Thursday maintains the current scale of assessments.
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed appreciation to member states for approving the budget.
UN peacekeeping operations are funded separately.
