CANBERRA: Recent cooler temperatures in the New South Wales (NSW) regions is a good news for firefighters in the next few days as they try to contain more than 100 fires burning across the state yet.

The Australian Associated Press reports on Friday firing is not allowed at NSW's northwest and upper central western plains that is expected to have fire-friendly weather.

Some 2,000 personnel will tackle just under 100 bushfires across NSW on Friday, 25 of which remain uncontained, the Rural Fire Service (RFS) says.

No properties were currently under threat.

Conditions across much of NSW have eased overnight, with cooler temperatures relieving firefighters and a chance to bring some fires under control.

"We're looking at much more benign conditions for the next four or five days," RFS spokesman Antony Clark said.

"The difficult thing is, even though the conditions have eased, we've just got so many fires that we're going to be busy for the next couple of weeks trying to wrap up these ones. "

"We're expecting temperatures to rise maybe midweek, and we're trying to get us much containment on the fires as we can at the moment."
