Main reason for the problem, according to the press release, is continued instability, security incidents, poverty, destruction of infrastructures and protracted wars over the past recent decades.

To tackle the problems, the press release added, the Public Health Ministry under a five-year strategy has built 16 psychological treatment centres, as well as upgrading a 60-bed hospital to 100-bed one and giving training to over 2,700 medical staffs in psychological field.

The press release said that survey carried out last year showed that women who used to live under Taliban regime had suffered from depression twice bigger than those used to live free from Taliban rule.
