NEW DELHI: A slight intensity earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale Sunday night occurred in the India-Myanmar border region, reported the semi-official Press Trust of India on Monday.

The news agency quoted the India Meteorological Department as saying the quake took place at 23:56 pm Indian Standard Time (1826 GMT) and was epicentered at 23.5 degrees north latitude and 94.5 degrees east longitude.

No casualty or damage has been reported so far.

India's northeast region has recently been frequently hit by earthquakes. No one was killed in these quakes, although material and properties damages were widely reported.
