UN office blast kills 1 in Islamabad

A blast went off at an office of the UN World Food Program (WFP) in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, on Monday, killing one foreigner and wounding several others, local TV reported

The UN officials have been asked to evacuate the building damaged in the blast. The injured have been taken to the PIMS hospital and emergency was declared at hospitals in Islamabad.

"There was a blast in the street where a UN office is located. We have sent our team there. We don't know the cause," said a police official.

"It's a blast near the WFP office. We exactly don't know what sort of blast it was and what was its target."

UN official Amjad Jamal said the blast was in the WFP office and several people were hurt.
