Ketsana claims 3 in central Vietnam

HANOI: Three people are dead in central Vietnam from Typhoon Ketsana.

Disaster officials say the storm made landfall Tuesday afternoon and is battering the province of Quang Nam with winds up to 144 kilometers per hour (90 mph).

The National Weather Center says the storm made landfall at about 2 pm, about 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of Danang.

Provincial disaster official Nguyen Minh Tuan says two people in the province were killed by falling trees and another died after being struck by an electrical line.
