The Beijing Health Bureau and Education Bureau will be administering free vaccinations against the deadly A(H1N1) influenza for students of primary schools and middle schools beginning Oct 8, Beijing Daily reported.

About 10,000 students participating in the Oct 1 parade have already been vaccinated. The vaccination, covering all unvaccinated primary and middle school students, will end on Oct 30.

The Beijing Education Bureau said the vaccination is the students’ free choice and schools have to notify parents beforehand. All schools must monitor students for any side effects and report any possible problems to their superiors.

The interval between seasonal flu vaccination and the A(H1N1) flu should be over 15 days and students who have taken seasonal flu vaccines will get the vaccination later, according to the Education Bureau.
