13 killed, 3 seriously injured in bus-train collision in Romania

BUCHAREST:Thirteen people were killed and three others seriously injured on Friday when a train collided with a minibus in northeastern Romania.

The accident happened at a railway crossing point in the county of Iasi when the train slammed into the minibus, which was carrying 16 passengers. According to emergency officials, two of the five injured died on the way to a hospital. Among the dead there was a 8 year-old child. This is the worst accident occurred in the county within 15 years.

According to the initial information, it seems that the driver of the minibus crossed the railway ignoring the signal light, which led to the collision, said local officials. The 26 year-old bus driver was still in a coma.There are no reports of injuries from the train.
