Vietnam has 1st H1N1 flu death: report

HANOI: A 29-year-old Vietnamese woman has died from the H1N1 flu virus, becoming the first fatality from the disease in the country, where nearly 1,000 people have been infected, a newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The woman, who sold noodle soup in the central province of Khanh Hoa, died on Monday night from respiratory failure after she was taken into a military hospital on July 30, the Nguoi Lao Dong (Labourer) daily reported, quoting a doctor.

The Health Ministry, which has yet to confirm the death, said that as of Monday afternoon 971 patients had been infected by the H1N1 virus.
