A statement by the Elysee Palace says medical tests on Sarkozy's heart conducted Monday show no signs of irregular heartbeat and no long term consequences for the president's heart. No further medical treatment was prescribed, but the president has been told to rest for a few days.

All of Sarkozy's official meetings for Monday have been canceled. He is expected to chair the final Council of Ministers meeting Wednesday before leaving on vacation.

Sarkozy, 54, interrupted his Sunday jog when he felt unwell and was rushed by helicopter to the hospital.
