Indonesian gov't secures vital targets

Updated: 2009-07-18 22:31 JAKARTA: Indonesian government quickly safeguarded areas vital to the economy, preventing possible similar incidents after the bomb blasts that shook two luxurious hotels on Friday morning in South Jakarta, the Jakarta Post quoteda minister as saying on Saturday.
"We are regaining public confidence so the economy will not be impacted by the incidents. The National Vital Objects Team has raised the level of awareness so that there would not be any disruptions in the functions (of economic sectors)," Coordinating Minister for the Economy Sri Mulyani Indrawati said in a press briefing.
"We will ensure the flow of goods and movement of economic players to continue so that it will not be obstructed by the risk perception." Transportations Minister Jusman Syafii Djamal said his director generals had gone to the field to ensure security in airports and seaports. "We don't want to lose the chain of coordination and command. We are coordinating with the Indonesia Military and the National Police," said the minister. State Minister for State-owned Companies Sofyan Djalil said his office had sent letters containing standard operating procedure (SOP) to state-run firms to ensure they increased security in preventing unwanted incidents. |
