Indian arrests suspected terror recruiter

NEW DELHI -- Indian police have arrested a 50-year-old Pakistani national, suspected to be a "key recruiter" for the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist group in India and Nepal, said the semi-official Press Trust of Indian on Friday.

Mohd Omar Madni was arrested in the Muslim district of Mehrauli in south Delhi Thursday night by Delhi Police's anti-terror wing " Special Cell", with an input from intelligence agencies, said the report.

Madni is considered a key operative of LeT in India and Nepal who recruited young people in India before sending them for training in Pakistan by exploiting the "porous" Indian-Nepal border, said the report.

He is being interrogated by police on his purpose to visit India, said the report quoting police sources.

Police also recovered US$8,000, 15,000 Indian rupees and 4,000 Nepalese rupees in cash besides an identity card and driving license.
