One of world's largest library to be built in Indonesia

Updated: 2009-06-02 16:26 JAKARTA -- University of Indonesia has started building new library, which will be "one of the biggest and most modern" library in the world, according to a local newspaper on Tuesday. The eight-story library begin to be built on Monday on a 2.5- hectare of land and would collect more than three million books and facilitate up to 20,000 daily visitors, the Jakarta Post said. Located next to the campus's main lake, the library has been designed with some of its electricity needs to be generated by solar energy. The building of the library needs 100 billion rupiah (some $9.8 million) in funding. |
