Strikers vandalize vehicles in Nepali capital

KATHMANDU --  Agitating cadres of Joint Action Committee of Newa Autonomous State (JACNAS) vandalized 29 vehicles in course of enforcing their strike in Nepali capital Kathmandu Valley on Monday.

According to Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, Ramshahpath, the irate cadres of JACNAS vandalized 29 vehicles in Kalimati vegetable market as the agitators and shop owners engaged in clash.

According to myrepublica.com, the activists vandalized windscreens of 21 cars and jeeps, four motorcycles, two trucks and two other truck with Indian number plates.

All the vandalized vehicles were parked in the area.

Kalimati area has remained tense as the agitators also forced fruits vendors to shut down their outlets, throwing away their fruits.

Normal life in Kathmandu Valley and a few other adjoining districts has been badly hit due to the JACNAS strike. While all academic institutions and businesses have remained shut down, both private and public vehicles have chosen to remain off the road. Kathmandu Valley has virtually come to a standstill due to the strike.

Among others, the JACNAS has demanded autonomous state comprising 12 districts including Kathmandu Valley and annulment of Kathmandu Valley Urban Development Bill.
