NZ PM, Obama make first phone conversation

Updated: 2009-05-14 14:23 WELLINGTON -- New Zealand Prime Minister John Key had a 15-minute phone conversation with US President Barack Obama on Thursday on economic ties and Afghan issue, the Prime Minister's Office said. The Prime Minister's office said the event had been scheduled for some time and it was the first conversation Key and Obama have had since they both became leaders. "We had a very good conversation, he expressed that New Zealand and the United States had a very strong relationship and he wanted that relationship to be even better," Key said. "We had a broad ranging conversation about the economy, we talked about Afghanistan," Key added. |
