Roxana Saberi, a dual Iranian-American national, was convicted last month of espionage and sentenced to eight years in prison after a one-day trial.

The IRNA report quotes the spokesman of Iran's judiciary, Ali Reza Jamshidi, as saying the court will hear the case Sunday, but it's unclear when the verdict would be issued. He says three judges will review her appeal.

The US government calls the charges against Saberi baseless and demanded she be freed. Saberi, who grew up in North Dakota, moved to Iran six years ago and worked as a freelancer for several news outlets including National Public Radio.
