More than half of French disapprove of Sarkozy

PARIS -- More than half of the French people do not think Nicolas Sarkozy is a great president although they recognize he is a man of many merits, according to a latest opinion poll.

In the telephone survey of 802 French adults conducted by CSA on Tuesday, 85 percent of the respondents termed Sarkozy as "energic," 75 percent termed him as "brave" and 66 percent termed him as "decisive."

However, 55 percent of respondents did not think Sarkozy who took office two years ago was a great president because he failed to heed the opinions of French people and solve their difficulties and problems .

In a related development, another poll published by French institite TNS Sofres showed that, 65 percent of respondents were disappointed with Sarkozy's performance while 63 percent reckoned the policies adopted by Sarkozy since he came to power failed to produce positive social results.
