India launches spy and education satellites

![]() India's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) C-12 blasts off from Satish Dhawan space centre at Sriharikota, about 100 km (62 miles) north of the southern Indian city of Chennai, April 20, 2009. The PSLV-C12, carrying 300 kg Radar Imaging Satellite (RISAT-2) and a 40 kg micro educational satellite ANUSAT lifted off from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and placed into 550 km orbit around earth.
