CANBERRA -- Australian Northern Territory police warned people on Saturday to be cautious when swimming or camping around Darwin after they found the remains of a man taken by a crocodile while swimming at night in the Daly River about 150km south of Darwin.

"I'd be taking extreme care if I was going to do that. I think there was some complacency involved in this incident," Superintendent Dean Moloney told reporter.

According to Australian Associated Press, Moloney said the three had been drinking and the two men have decided they would try to swim across the river.

Police have destroyed a 4.3 meter crocodile that believed to be responsible for the attack.

This was the fourth fatal crocodile attack in Australia in recent months.

Darwin is the capital city of the Northern Territory, Australia.
