Woman lives with bullet in face for 12 years

TIRANA -- An Albanian woman has lived with a bullet in her face for 12 years without noticing it, local media reported on Friday.

Mrike Rrucaj was sleeping when she was hit by a bullet flying into her house in 1997, when the western Balkan country was caught in an armed rebellion caused by a flopped pyramid scheme.

"I was covered in blood. The doctor at the hospital said the bullet had come out and he just cleaned the wound," the 40-year-old Rrucaj said of the incident in 1997.

But recently she has been experiencing headache and went to see a doctor. X-ray revealed the 2.8-cm-long bullet which is lodged below her cheekbone.
