Updated: 2009-03-14 19:40 NEW DELHI -- In a shocking incident in south Indian city Chennai, a father threw her newborn baby into a well and killed her, because the mother did not pay him attention after the birth of the child, according to local television reports Saturday. Neeranjan Kumar, a 28-year-old software engineer working for a leading software company in south Indian city Bangalore, and his 22-year-old wife Sangeetha had differences over when they should have a child, said the reports. Due to differences over timing of pregnancy, Sangeeta had to move to her parents' house in Chennai from Bangalore to give birth to the baby, said the reports. Kumar was reportedly upset that after the child's birth his wife gave him little attention, so he carried the child to a near- by well, dumped her there and killed her. Police have arrested him and a case of murder has been registered against him. |
