Indian automobile sale in February up by 10%

NEW DELHI -- Indian automobile manufacturers sold 1.04 million vehicles in February, up by 10 percent from the same period last year, despite the on-going economic slowdown, the private Indo-Asian News Service reported on Monday.

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said passenger vehicle sales in February were 145,019, up 15 percent from the same period last year, said the report.

Domestic two-wheeler sales in February totaled 836,926, up by 12.66 percent from the same month last year, while three-wheelers including goods carriers sold 29,989 units, up by 5.06 percent, said the report.
