Tourist stabbed dead in Singapore hotel

SINGAPORE -- A male tourist was found stabbed to death at the Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore hotel on Monday morning, local media reported.

According to the latest report on the website of the Straits Times, the victim was in his 60s and was found by hotel staff in the bathroom with a stab wound to his chest, at about 9 am (0100 GMT).

Local broadcaster Channelnewsasia also revised its report about the man's age to his 60s, instead of an early report of 40s.  

The Straits Times said that the police received a call about the body at about 9:13 am (0113 GMT) and they have classified the case as "unnatural death" and do not suspect foul play.

"This is an internal private matter. There has been no breach of security and no sign of criminal activity." General Manager of Ritz-Carlton Peter Mainguy told the Straits Times, adding that the hotel has cameras to monitor activities in its premises.

The police are investigating the case. The nationality of the victim is still not available so far.
