Updated: 2009-03-06 09:31 TOKYO -- The Japanese government decided Friday to extend its UN peacekeeping mission in Nepal for another six months until September 30. The decision to renew the mission, which is scheduled to expire on March 31, came in response to a UN Security Council resolution in January to extend a military observer mission to Nepal until July 23. In March 2007, Japan sent six Self-Defense Force (SDF) officers to the Southern Asia country to participate in the UN Political Mission in Nepal (UNMIN). |
