UK princes to sign condolence book for Aussie fire victims

LONDON – Princes William and Harry were on Tuesday to sign the official book of condolence for the victims of the Australian wildfires, St James' Palace said.

The brothers, second and third in line to the throne, were to sign the book at the Australian High Commission in London.

Their aunt Princess Anne represented her mother Queen Elizabeth II, Australia's head of state, at Sunday's national remembrance ceremony in Melbourne, and visited the areas affected.

Queen Elizabeth, 82, has made a private donation to a fundraising appeal helping the victims of the bushfires, and last week, her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, also signed the book of condolence for the victims.

Prince Charles has also sent a message of sympathy.
